Illinois firm seeks incentives to add 176 jobs in Lake Mary

An Illinois company wants to double the number of employees it has and it’s Lake Mary office.

Paylocity, an Arlington Heights, Ill.-based human resource technology firm, wants to add 176 new jobs with an average salary of $47,000 by the end of 2019. Paylocity says it will also make a capital investment of $850,000 to lease 35,000 square feet of office space and purchase equipment.

Paylocity currently employs 150 people at its Lake Mary office. The company has 1,220 employees in four U.S. locations. In addition to Lake Mary, the company is considering five other cities for its expansion plan.

To that end, Paylocity is seeking $880,000 in Qualified Targeted Industry (QTI) incentives through Enterprise Florida, the state’s economic development organization. The state would provide 80% of the incentive money, with Seminole County and the city of Lake Mary each contributing 10%, or $88,000.

If approved the incentive plan would be the second QTI money Paylocity has received. The company was awarded $166,000 in 2012 when it promised to create 83 new jobs in three years. Paylocity created nearly twice that amount.

Seminole County commissioners will consider Paylocity’s latest proposal at their August 25 meeting. The Lake Mary City Commission approved the incentive plan and it’s July 9 meeting.
