Looking for a fun, low-cast night out in The Bokey? Check out the Sanford Shuffleboard courts.
Yup, you read it right — shuffleboard. But this ain’t your granddaddy’s shuffleboard. Hipsters young and old have been flocking to the Sanford Shuffleboard courts (located next to the Sanford Civic Center) to participate in the Sanford Shuffle, held the third Friday of the month.
Today is the third Friday, so the shuffle begins at 7 p.m. Best of all, it’s absolutely free. The competition ends about 9 p.m., after which the group will gather at Buster’s Bistro for a special “Last Shot.”
Shuffleboard is seeing a resurgence fueled by the Millennial generation. In fact, the New York Times recently noted that one of Brooklyn’s hottest spots is a 17,000-square-foot factory that underwent a $2 million facelift to become the Royal Palms Shuffleboard Club.
