Despite what you might read on social media, SunRail service to DeBary will NOT be suspended Aug. 16.
Marianne Gurnee, a member of SunRail’s project management team, said repairs are needed on the St. Johns River Railroad drawbridge, but rail service – both freight and passenger – will not be disrupted.
However, some boat traffic along the St Johns will be. The drawbridge can not be raised while repairs are being made, so sailboats and other tall watercraft will not be able to navigate that section of the river.
The drawbridge will be out of service from Aug. 16 to Aug. 29.
Steve Olson, a spokesman for FDOT, is expected to make the official public announcement soon.
