New market, butcher shop seeks votes for cash in national contest

Courtney Haton and Mo Abed are moving forward with their plans to open an international market and butcher shop in downtown Sanford, but they need your help.

The couple have entered a contest in hopes of winning $25,000 from Wells Fargo Bank, money that would definitely help their start-up.

Wells Fargo works for fall business is a natural contest for entrepreneurs. Businesses will be judged based on their story, their need and the number of votes they receive.

“We appreciate everyone’s help,” said Courtney. “We’re looking forward to opening our market and meeting everyone.”

Courtney says they expect to open by the end of July (“Update: Downtown market and butcher shop still on track“). They plan on offering organic produce, dry goods,  halal and non halal meats, eggs, dairy and international staples. The market will also provide home delivery.
