Bealls closing store in Sanford retail plaza

Floor & Decor to move into space

Bealls is closing it’s Sanford department store when it’s lease is up April 30. The Bradenton-based retailer is currently located in the anchor space at Gateway Plaza near Seminole Towne Center mall.

The store will be replaced by Atlanta-based Floor & Decor, which signed a 10-year lease for the 62,500-square-foot space according to a report in the Orlando Business Journal (website).

The Sanford location would be just the second Central Florida store for Floor & Decor, which sells high-end flooring and tile.

Gateway Plaza, which has struggled to attract customers in recent years in the shadow of the mall and new development on Rinehart Road and W.P. Ball Boulevard, is remaking itself into a home decor destination. Ashley Furniture HomeStore opened last summer in Gateway Plaza, the retailer’s first new OIrlando-area store in more than a decade.
