After some some gentle ribbing from The Bokey, Walmart Neighborhood Market (Facebook) manager Chuck Fowler proclaims that while his store may have “Lake Mary” in the name, he’s 100% Sanford Proud.
“Our store is very much a part of the Sanford community and we’re proud to call it home. In fact, we’ve already begun to support residents through several thousands of dollars in grants being provided to organizations such as Kids House, Seminole High School Band and ROTC, and Rescue Outreach Mission,” Fowler said. “We look forward to welcoming customers from Sanford and providing them with convenient access to fresh, affordable groceries when we open on Wednesday.”
Evidently the suits in Arkansas figured that since the store has a Lake Mary address (825 Casa Verde Blvd., Lake Mary FL 32746), the name should be “Walmart Neighborhood Market – Lake Mary.” The store actually sits in unincorporated Seminole County, and the Walgreens next door has a Sanford address.
Whatever the name, it’s good to see Fowler getting involved with the Sanford community.
The store will open tomorrow (Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2016).Local associates will provide a special welcome to members of Sanford at two public events. Store associates will host a brief ribbon-cutting ceremony on grand opening day, Wednesday, Jan. 13, at 7:30 a.m. The store will present checks to local organizations as part of the ceremony.
The following Saturday, Jan. 16, local residents are invited to A Big Family Welcome, which will give customers a chance to meet store manager Fowler and enjoy fun family activities and free food samples while supplies last. Join the celebration from noon to 3 p.m.
