Sanford man wins Powerball $$ using abandoned numbers

Local media outlets are reporting that 19-year-old Frederick Walker, of Sanford, is one of several winners in Wednesday night’s record-setting Powerball.

Walker did not win the $1.5-billion jackpot, but he did win $2 million. Channel 6 WKMG is reporting that Walker went to Tallahassee this morning to claim his prize. Walker matched all five white numbers and got the multiplier, according to WKMG.

Walker bought his winning ticket from the Sav-A-Ton in Lake Mary.  Sav-A-Ton, located at 199 N. Country Club Rd. in Lake Mary, will receive a bonus commission of $5,000 for selling a winning ticket.

Channel 9 WFTV reports that Walker used a play slip filled out by someone else but abondoned at the store.
