The Celery City is building a name for itself as a culinary destination.
The latest foodie buzz is that reknowed sushi chef Junichi Takazoe plans to open Jimotti’s Restaurant in Sanford at 2545 S French Ave. (fornerly Vayda’s Gypsy Rib Ranch).
Takazoe was the head sushi chef at Morimoto Asia at Disney Springs. Prior to that his experience includes Nobu in Minami-Aoyama Tokyo, Japan; Marui-Sushi in Ginza Tokyo,Japan; Sen Nari Sushi in Gardena, Calif.; and Hamasaku in West Los Angeles.
According to his website, Takaoze has prepared meals for Oprah, Tyler Perry, Leonardo Dicaprio, Christina Aguilera, Cameron Diaz and Brazilian soccer star KaKa, who now plays for Orlando City.
Takaoze told the Orlando Weekly’s Jessica Bryce Young that the Sanford restaurant will serve “ingenious and creative” Japanese tapas dishes, as well as serve rare sakes and Japanese beers.
