After months of anticipation, The District Eatery + Tap & Barrel opened this week (Facebook).
It was about a year ago that brown paper went up in the windows at 112 W 2nd St. (Gmap) announcing that The District would open in late summer or early fall 2016.

It took a little bit longer than owners Brad Plummer and Anne McNamara would have liked, in part because most of the concrete floor had to be chipped out and replaced to accommodate plumbing upgrades. But the renovations are done and the place is open.
The District served their first meals in recent nights to friends and family as part of staff training. They opened officially last night (Wednesday (March 22).
The food is amazing, and while it’s tough to single out one thing, I’ve got to say the Green Eggs and Ham is my favorite (followed closely by the Shrimp and Grits). Yes, it’s an appetizer, but check it out: It’s basically a deviled egg, filled with avocado, cayenne pepper and pecan bacon. I could eat a whole late of those things! Trust me, whatever you order, you’ll be more than satisfied.
If you don’t have dinner plans this weekend, stop by The District.

We went to the District with friends last Thursday. We had a great experience. The shrimp and grits are fantastic and they have a very nice beer selection. We will definitely be back to try some of the other offerings.
