The playground at Fort Mellon Park will be closed starting Monday, April 21 at 8 am for repairs.
Robert Beale, the Operations Manager for Parks & Grounds Division of Public Works, said the walls of the playground “fort” need to be replaced and require heavy equipment to be in the area.
“There’s no way to do the work and keep the playground open,” Beale said. “We waited until school was back in session to start the work so it would lessen the impact.”
Beale said the work should take about three weeks, and the playground equipment will reopen by mid-September.
While the repairs are being made at the playground the pavilions and splash pad will still be available for use.
