After months of anticipation, Fuel BBQ opened at 5:27 p.m., and of course, your intrepid reporter from The Bokey was first in line.
If you’ve been hanging around the corner of 2nd Street and Park Avenue, you no doubt have noticed the aroma of oak smoke.
It’s official! The new barbecue restaurant in downtown will be named Fuel.
The much anticipated opening of the new barbecue restaurant in downtown Sanford is closer to reality, and it looks like it will be quite an impressive space.
Sanford will add to its country music roots when country music star Chris Janson headlines a concert at the Sonny’s Smokin’ Showdown Invitational, a national barbecue competition.
Rob Hawkins is an unassuming man. But don’t let his calm demeanor fool you: He’s a man on a mission to rid downtown Sanford of blight.
Hawkins is the owner of Insurance Risk Services, a 35-year-old company that provides field underwriting support for the insurance industry. More importantly, he is the owner of three buildings in the 100 block of Park Avenue.
His most recent purchase is the long under-utilized gas station/bus terminal building at the northwest corner of 2nd Street and Park Avenue.
