TV personality buys vacant downtown land

You’ve seen him on TV. Soon you’ll be seeing him in downtown Sanford.

Mark Nation, the personal injury attorney whose television ads are almost as ubiquitous as Morgan and Morgan’s, has bought nearly a full city block of vacant land in downtown.

The property is bounded on the east and west by Oak and Myrtle avenues between 2nd and 3rd streets. Basically its all the land except for the building the Cheers bar is located.

Nation was in town Tuesday night, after bicycling from his home in Winter Springs. He stopped by the Imperial for a bottle of water and to gather some improptu feedback on how people would like to see the property developed.

Nation said he has no definite plans for how the property will be developed or a timetable for when work would begin. He plans to meet with a number of residents, business owners, and city officials in the coming weeks.

So why is Nation buying land in downtown? He told me he has been watching Sanford’s revitalization for several years and believes the Celery City is poised for some pretty awesome things in the near future.

Plus, Nation has roots in Sanford. His wife, Wendy (nee Hirt), grew up in Sanford, and her parents, Wendell and Beth Hirt, still live in town.

So if you see a familiar TV attorney hanging out downtown, say hello. If it’s John Morgan, make sure he has an Uber ride home at the end of the night. 😉

  1. We need a restaurant like this in Sanford. I travelled GA & FL with my job. Every small town in GA has at least 1 southern home style cooking restaurant. Great food. We will be there often. Can’t wait.
