More than 3,000 people and a dozen sofas were crammed into 2-block section of Sanford Avenue Sunday afternoon, but few folks were interested in becoming couch potatoes.
Instead, the boisterous crowd was on hand to cheer teams sponsored by local businesses race modified sofas up and down the brick boulevard in downtown Sanford as part of Sofa & Suds 2015, a beer festival that has grown exponentially since it began in 2013. By the end, it was a team of muscle-bound “insurance agents” from Bob Duncan Allstate that were crowned the sofa kings of 2015.
